Causes of Diabetes

There are many causes of diabetes, depending on the type of diabetes you have. The following are some of the causes of diabetes which are divided into types of diabetes, namely:

Type 1 Diabetes

The cause of type 1 diabetes is the destruction or not working of the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin so that insulin production in the body is not met. This is closely linked to genetic factors.

Type 2 Diabetes

The cause of type 2 diabetes, mostly comes from a family history of diabetes and an unhealthy lifestyle. Other factors are obesity, infrequent movement or activity, increasing age, and the wrong diet.

Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes or diabetes that is present during pregnancy does not have a definite cause. However, there are several factors that are suspected to be the cause of gestational diabetes, namely a history of family members who have had diabetes, obesity, the presence of polycystic ovary syndrome  (PCOS), and large pregnancies. But usually, this condition will recover after giving birth.
